Do you remember that old Neil Diamond/Barbara Streisand love song, “You Don’t Send Me Flowers Anymore?” It is all about a love relationship that wasn’t maintained. It is a common pattern with couples and so their love ebbs and flows until one day, it is just gone. The relationship at this point can probably be resurrected unless someone else enters the picture and picks up you or your partner.

It is an old story, you are with someone for a long time and the passion has gone. Has your love grown cold? Is passion and sex gone from your relationship? While not an unusual condition it holds danger for the relationship, it also takes away happiness and meaning from the individuals in the relationship.

The intensity of love in any relationship increases and decreases and couples must realize that this is a natural condition. Danger comes when the relationship is in a down cycle and perhaps another person comes into the picture and attracts the eye of one of the partners. Temptation at the wrong time can easily lead to an affair and a break up.

The new person introduces danger and fun that turns on the endorphin tap in the brain. Brain chemicals overtake our about to stray partner and the relationship is toast. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Just like your car will break down if you don’t maintain it, so too your relationship – the two of you need to be taking care of each other. Spend time with each other, go back and do the things that you did when you met, things that were fun and that brought you together. Is it dressing up and going out, camping, fishing, sports, dancing? Whatever those things are find a way to do them on a regular basis.

How about a surprise, a gift, or a card? These sound a little mundane but as the toll of everyday life bares in those kinds of gestures can have a meaning and an effect beyond what might seem rational. The thing is you want to keep them regular and random at the same time. Sending flowers on a certain day every week will lose its effects – but if you do it randomly enough to keep the surprise element in then they will work every time.

Often during the ebb times sex disappears. Sex is another key part to maintaining a relationship. Sexless marriages are common today and it is tragic, you and your partner could give each other so much joy through sex. Is your partner not initiating or refusing sex with you, or is it you who has put on the damper? This is something that needs attention: discuss it in an understanding and loving manor, address any physical issues with your doctor, get counseling if you need to but get this important element back into your relationship.

Divorce for men can be all uphill. If you are involved in divorce the feelings that come out from this can be so intense that you may feel like you are about to be emasculated. At that time, many men lash out in anger – they have a testosterone moment and divorce rage erupts.

This anger could range from throwing the new flat-screen TV through the window, to taking a ball bat to the car headlights so she can’t leave, taking a friend with you to push your way into her new apartment to get some things straight, to a black eye, and other such inappropriate behavior. The thing is this type of behavior is just what she needs to in essence emasculate you in a legal way by having you arrested and humiliating you in court. If there is ever a time that you need to rein in emotions and testosterone reactions it is in a divorce situation when you are feeling the most burdened down, the most like you want to do something. The something you must do is control the emotions, but how?

I’ve talked previously about finding power phrases to keep you centered and help you avoid depression, the same kind of response can handle this. The most common way of describing this activity is self-talk.

What kinds of things do you say to yourself?

Most of us have a more or less constant conversations going on with ourselves. We get a break when we are asleep, at a movie, a concert, or other entertainment. It lessens when we are at work or otherwise concentrating and yet it is there. The voices that come up occasionally are new thoughts or inspiration but for most these kinds of thoughts are blocked by the negative voices within. Perhaps by expressions we heard from our families, or from being called names when we were young. Worst of all is our own voices of condemnation when we have failed at something, or didn’t approach a person we were interested in, or take the deal we should have taken because we were afraid.

Some silence those voices by destructive behavior, others can’t get past it and don’t sleep well, and many other less than useful ways. If you are involved in divorce perhaps the voices condemn you for your failings in the relationship, maybe you become the last guy, or last woman that anyone would ever want and all is lost.

When these conversations in your head erupt you need to be ready to answer? You don’t even have to believe these answers when you start as long as they convey a positive message and a positive answer for you. You will come to believe them and come to take positive action on them. Your homework for this article is consider what you want post-divorce and find some dialog to answer the negatives with. Get a motivational quotes book and pull some quotes out that speak to you and have them ready to add to and control this inner dialog with.

So when you are about to take a ball bat to her car or throw the TV out the window have an answer ready – you do not have to act in an insane way that will entrap you, you don’t have to act in a way that will figuratively emasculate you at the end of the divorce.

You need to learn the words to say to yourself to rein things in and put yourself in control. You can take control of yourself and your divorce. This doesn’t mean that everything that happens will be exactly to your liking, but if you take charge of yourself, your life, and your divorce you can get an outcome that you will like.

The deck is stacked against men in divorce court. Just last week an acquittance was shutdown by the judge and not fully allowed to tell his story. He had gotten angry, did something stupid, and now his battle is even more uphill.

In dissolving a marriage, emotions are all wrapped around your future and it is tough to see right from wrong. You want to take action and protect your family all the while it is being torn apart by the woman that you loved, or perhaps still do love. You want to protect that relationship and it is painful that it is being torn up.

The facts are you need to protect your future. There is a life for you on the other side of the divorce but not if you throw it away with self-destructive behavior, stupid actions, and doing things to take care of her. Face it – she is out for herself.

What you need to do now is slow your thoughts down and trust.

How do you slow your thoughts down?

The easiest way I know is thought replacement. Your mind is racing off on a tragic end to everything and that is all you can see or think of. This is where you replace that thought with an answer. If you are religious then follow Norman Vincent Peale’s ideas about using scriptures. Your response might b e “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” Not religious, not Christian, no problem, the same strategy works with great quotes that have meaning for you. Great quotes like Emerson’s: “do the thing and you shall have the power,” or Perseus, “he conquers who endures.” Find some meaningful quotes that empower you and use them over and over, as needed, to answer these destructive thoughts. Do this because you need to take smart action and not action out of fear or anger. You need this to anchor you and to keep you looking forward.

Now that you are managing yourself, begin to think of what you want out of this, what you need to support your new life. Take this information and begin to manage your divorce, manage your lawyer. Don’t think you can get a satisfactory outcome by outsourcing your divorce to your attorney, no, no, no. Attorneys are busy and you need to stay on top of it to be sure it is done correctly.

Your wife has filed for divorce (women do this 2 to 1 over men). Now she seems to want everything that matters to you and a huge chunk of everything you might earn in the future. This is where a lot of men get upset and afraid. This is a shock and awe technique that her attorney has learned at the sleaze school of divorce.

Thanks to the popularity of waxing among models such as Naomi Campbell and actresses such as Gweneth Paltrow, Brazilian Bikini Waxing (BBW) has spread in salons and spas across the United States like wildfire. The Waxologists who paved the way for BBW in salons across the USA are the J-Sisters Salon in NY who services the celeb clients. In the late 90′s magazines found out that hot celebs were getting this done, they went nuts about it, and so it boomed!

Where did it come from?

Well although Brazilians have the fame for it, history has it that the real origin is the Middle East. Brides would prepare them selves for their honeymoons by removing all pubic hair for their husbands to be on their special wedding night. Waxing in Brazil has been a long time practice but the Brazilian Bikini is more for hygiene and aesthetic purposes rather than sex in my opinion. Brazil is known for its beautiful beaches and yes it’s very tiny bikinis. In order to wear such small sized bikinis, no one wants to show off a buz especially down there. So women get waxing done enough in the inner thigh area ( bikini lines) so that no hair be seen while they are lying on one of Brazil’s many sunny beaches. So this also includes the back area known as the buttocks (haha). Think about it for a minute, if you had to wear one of those bikinis publicly, would any hair be sticking out? If your answer is yes, then you would need a Bikini Waxing- lol. Guess what though? In Brazil, most women do not go all the way and it wax it all off- ouch sounds painful. If you want to recover from a break up, if your relationship has ended for whatever reason and you want to get back on your feet then you are already half way there. Many wallow in sorrow after a breakup and fail to move forward until something happens outside of them. You are halfway there because you are ready to take charge and get yourself together.

There is no need to mope and second guess yourself. Relationships end and begin all of the time. It is part of some larger natural process. Thing is you can use it for good, life just handed you a message and you need to understand what it is so you can move on to better things, so you can move on to the great life with great relationships as intended for everyone. Here are 5 tips to help you heed the message and get back on your feet:

1. Use the experience to grow. A relationship break up releases incredible emotions and an energy that can drag you down or alternatively be used to move in a new direction.
2. Learn from the experience, life hands us many lessons and as with emotions we can use the lessons to move in a more positive direction or use it to justify our failure and unworthiness.
3. Look at where you are in the major areas of your life, it is time to take stock. Where are you financially, spiritually, physically, relationship wise, and do you know how to have fun?
4. Evaluate what went wrong in your relationship and to the extent the failure was your fault, consider what you would do differently. Was the relationship second to your job? Many grew up in homes where the parent was always at work and they pick up the same addiction. If this is you consider what a proper balance should be.
5. Begin to picture your ideal day in your ideal life. Build a vision, see the future, put yourself into the vision and see and touch it all. Make it real and believe it. This will activate your subconscious mind to produce it. Don’t dwell on what you need to produce this life, only consider and rehearse the vision daily. Your subconscious will bring the ideas for you to act on, and will build the plan.

The big take away is consider what has happened and where you are. Correct the things that you may have done that you have power over. If you’ve let your body, finances, spiritual life, etc deteriorate then look at what you need to do. If it is your body then begin to do small things to get on track and as you progress other things will appear for you to do. These things will naturally present themselves and you can integrate them into your life. Same idea for finances and every issue that you uncover.

Keep tip 5 as a daily ritual as you fall asleep and perhaps again on waking. You will begin to draw the life you want into your reality.

Recovering from a relationship is an interesting time. There is such power released along with all the emotions and you need to learn how to direct them for your long term good.
